Training will be conducted based on a new competency-role model: practice and internships begin as early as the second semester of the first year, and all key competencies are formulated by experts from major IT companies. As the head of the educational program, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) at NSU, Alexander Vlasov, explained, the difference of the new program from traditional models lies in the early immersion of students in real industrial tasks.

According to him, the classical education model is based on the gradual accumulation of fundamental knowledge followed by practical application. In the new program, it is different: industrial partners become involved in the educational process literally from the first semester of the first year, and students solve real cases from companies; specialized disciplines are carefully coordinated with the fundamental block and form a solid foundation.

— N Starting from the second semester, we have practical sessions, companies work with us constantly, and starting from the third year, students have mandatory paid internships, during which they solve real industrial problems, — explained Alexander Vlasov.

According to the program leader, the advantage of this approach is that by the time of graduation, students are already undergoing onboarding — a period that usually takes an ordinary graduate more than a year.

A typical graduate, upon finishing university, goes to an IT company for a junior developer position. They have no experience but are very eager to work. Companies find it inconvenient to hire a recent graduate without practical experience — adaptation takes more than a year and is expensive. Our students, however, already have real experience by graduation and get the opportunity to be employed in a company immediately at a higher level, at the level of mid-level developers (middles)., — said Alexander Vlasov.

For all program students, an additional scholarship from industry partners is provided in the first semester for successful selection. Starting from the second semester, additional scholarships from IT partners are awarded for academic performance, success in project activities, etc.

Graduates will be able to work in leading IT companies and engage in the development of complex industrial solutions, as well as continue their studies in master’s programs in the most relevant IT fields.

Interviews for transfer to the program started in August. According to Alexander Vlasov, the level of applicants was very high. All the students admitted to FIT easily pass the interview. The number of places allows enrolling all those who successfully passed the selection.

You can transfer to the new program regardless of the form of study — budget-funded or paid places, and profile — “Software Engineering and Computer Science” or “Computer Science and Systems Engineering.” The deadline for applications is September 1. Link to the program page

The project is being implemented within the framework of the federal project “Development of the IT Industry’s Human Resource Potential” of the national program “Digital Economy of the Russian Federation”.
