Cycling is an eco-friendly and convenient form of physical activity suitable for people of all ages, and therefore it is very popular among the population. In Huai’an city, Jiangsu province, an extensive network of bike lanes and a favorable ecological environment provide excellent conditions for cycling and outdoor sports, while the city’s vibrant sports atmosphere attracts many amateur athletes.
One of them is 57-year-old Wan Shupin, who recently moved to Huai’an. Since she was 30, she regularly played badminton, but in 2015, due to elbow problems, she was forced to give up this hobby. Looking at her neighbors, she took a mountain bike that had been unused for a long time and started riding. Wan Shupin strictly follows her daily routine: she gets up at dawn and rides her bike for 40 kilometers. Thanks to good physical condition, which she maintained through years of sports activities, she participated twice, in 2016 and 2017, in the international cycling marathon on the “Jixi-Shanghai” route, covering a distance of 421.95 km, and both times she became the women’s category champion. “Cycling helps me relax and recharge, I really enjoy this lifestyle,” says Wan Shupin.
