On August 21, at the Nagornaya Gallery of the Moscow Exhibition Halls association, which is subordinate to the Moscow Department of Culture, a patriotic exhibition “Our Heroes” will open. It is dedicated to the participants of the special military operation (SMO). Ten authors will present more than 80 portraits, drawings, sculptures, and sketches from the front line, created during the period from 2023 to 2026.
Exhibition “Our Heroes” brings together several artists’ projects. Thus, Irina Berlizova prepared the art project “Faces of the Special Military Operation.” It introduces stories of participants in the military actions and aims to preserve the memory of the fighters’ feats. The artist from Khabarovsk and participant in the special operation, Ilya Burchenkov, will present a series of works called “Drawings from the Frontline.”
Visitors will also be able to see illustrations for the poetry book by poet and special military operation participant Sergey Lobanov, “Voice from the Front.” They were created by graduates and teachers of the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography named after S.A. Gerasimov: Andrey Agin, Maria Melnikova, and Maria Sotnikova.
Artist Sergey Marchenko created the portrait gallery “Coal of Donbass. Faces of Victory.” He was inspired by the original project of war correspondent Maryana Naumova “We Are Alive” on Channel One, where the heroes shared their stories.
Thanks to compositions created from shards and fragments of enemy shells, Donetsk artist Viktor Mikhalev has become known. He will present his metal sculptures at the exhibition.
A separate section of the exhibition will feature portraits of the heroes of the Special Military Operation, created by Moscow artists — Olga Melnikova, Konstantin Seleznev, and Anatoly Ulymov.
Everyone interested will be able to visit the exhibition both independently and in as part of excursions. until October 18.
The “Moscow Exhibition Halls’ Association” is a network of exhibition venues working with various types and genres of traditional and contemporary art. Every day, the galleries host classes for children, lectures, master classes, meetings with artists, performances, workshops, and much more.
