From August 20 to 27, the festival “Manifestation” will be held for the first time in the capital under the artistic direction of Yulia Peresild. It will unite theater, music, contemporary art, and charity. The cultural program will become part of the third season of the International Open Festival “Theatrical Boulevard” and project “Summer in Moscow”.
The idea of the “Manifestation” festival resonates with the concept of the “Theatrical Boulevard”: art extends beyond conventional spaces, becomes part of urban life, and is able to influence people’s views and actions, making the world kinder. It is symbolic that the initiative of Yulia Peresild, a friend and ambassador of the “Theatrical Boulevard,” is realized on the open stages and venues of the main summer city festival.
An important part of “Manifestations” will be charity. The festival’s artists will donate their fees to the project’s partner foundations: “Galchonok,” “Life in Motion,” “Life as a Miracle,” “House with a Beacon,” and “Our Children.” This is how the organizers want to show that art is capable not only of uniting audiences but also of helping people.

Soviet hits, coming-of-age stories, and acting readings
The theater program will combine productions for adults and children. Yulia Peresild and Pavel Akimkin will present the play “Waffle Heart” — a story about friendship based on Maria Parr’s bestseller. The poster also includes Mitya Versta’s philosophical tragicomedy “Alive”, a musical family fairy tale “The Bogatyr Stepan Romashkin” the ‘Che’ theater and a production about the coming of age of children with special needs “I want to be taller” Arseniy Meshcheryakov. In addition, Aleksandra Rebenok and Natasha Shvets will conduct a reading of the book “Max and His New Liver”.
The musical part of the program will include “Force Majeure Concert”, in which the artists of the State Theatre of Nations will present their interpretation of Soviet hits. Elizaveta Arzamasova and Petr Glavatskikh will perform a chamber play-dialogue “Caution, Vivaldi!”, in which baroque music of an irregular form will be played.
Olga Lomonosova, Klavdia Korshunova, and Anna Shevchuk, together with the V.A. Berlinski Quartet, will present a literary and musical composition “Letters from a Dog”, based on the genuine correspondence between Anton Chekhov and Olga Knipper-Chekhova. And the members of the creative association “Petr Valentinovich” have prepared a special vocal program in support of the foundation “Our children”.
Inclusive performances
A separate section of the playbill is dedicated to inclusive theater. St. Petersburg’s ‘U Theater’ will present a performance “Words can be different” based on the poems of Heinrich Sapgir, and the Nedoslov Theater will present the production in Russian Sign Language “A box of pencils”.
As part of the festival, you will also be able to see the project “Mumu. Act Four. The Fourth Act”, created within the framework of the theatrical laboratory ‘Fourth Act’ at the ‘GES-2’ House of Culture, conducted with the participation of the Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve. It is dedicated to Deaf culture and created using documentary theater techniques. The autonomous non-profit organization ‘Hospital Clowns’ will present an interactive performance “Sickbay”.
Another event that will be shown at the festival is a performance-concert “It’s good that I am like this” The theater “Dmitry Brusnikin’s Workshop.” The play will be performed based on children’s poems. It was specially adapted and supplemented with translation into Russian sign language for the festival.
Workshops and tours at MMOMA
The Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA) will also join the festival. For seven days, a special program will take place in the courtyard and halls of the museum on Petrovka (building 25). It is dedicated to the perception of oneself and others, as well as to familiarizing with the experiences of other people. The preparation of the events drew on the experience of the “MMOMA for Children” program, which introduces children and teenagers to contemporary art through interactive tours, creative workshops, quests, and festivals.
Museum visitors will be invited to open workshops on architecture, printmaking, and costume creation. In addition, there will be interactive tours of the flagship summer season exhibition “Phenomena” and a three-day laboratory. At its finale, participants will prepare a collective animation and sound performance in the ballroom: voices, rustles, and drawings will merge into a video installation.
The program is adapted for visitors with different needs, and the sessions will be conducted by certified inclusion specialists. Architectural workshops will be accompanied by Russian sign language interpreters and accessibility specialists for the visually impaired. Separate tour groups will be organized for deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors, as well as for neurodivergent participants. The practical laboratory in the courtyard will be open to everyone interested.
