Since the beginning of the year, nearly 700 million cubic meters of water have passed through the facilities of JSC “Mosvodokanal.” The capital’s water supply system consistently serves about 15 million residents of Moscow and the Moscow region — approximately one-tenth of the country’s population. On average, about three million cubic meters of water are directed to consumers daily.
“In Moscow, the process of preparing drinking water is carried out at four facilities — the Western, Rublyovskaya, Eastern, and Northern water treatment stations. They use a traditional purification scheme, supplemented by advanced methods, including ozonosorption and membrane ultrafiltration. It is important to note that starting from 2025, all stations actively use coagulants produced directly by Mosvodokanal,” said Andrey Luzinov, chief engineer of the water supply department at JSC Mosvodokanal.
Prepared water is supplied to consumers through pipelines with a total length of more than 13 thousand kilometers. To preserve its quality throughout the entire route, specialists use modern disinfection technologies. In particular, sodium hypochlorite, which completely replaced liquid chlorine in 2012, is used in the water supply system.
The quality of drinking water is controlled by specialists from the quality control center of JSC “Mosvodokanal.” They regularly check its indicators at all stages of preparation and delivery.
Earlier in the urban infrastructure complex of Moscow reported that in 2025, through the water treatment stations of JSC “Mosvodokanal”, there passed more than one billion cubic meters of water.
