Win the battle of retro gamers and learn about the four-legged astronauts

On August 19 at 7:30 PM, a tour will be held at the “Cosmonautics and Aviation” center “Animals in Space”. It is dedicated to the 66th anniversary of the launch of the spacecraft Sputnik-5 with Belka and Strelka on board. Visitors will learn which animal was the first to orbit and when the first zoo was sent there. Participation requires pre-registration.

On August 19 and 20 from 10:00 to 20:00, everyone interested will be able to join the Kurchatov Institute master class “Seeing the invisible”. It will take place at the “Flavors of Russia” festival at VDNH. Scientists study objects at different levels: first they examine the object itself, then its internal structure, cells, and even molecules. On August 21 and 22 from 10:00 to 20:00, the Kurchatov Institute will hold a master class “Photosynthesis” at the “Flavors of Russia” festival at VDNH. Experts will explain how aerobes replaced anaerobes, talk about the evolution of organisms on Earth, and help understand the significance of values for this. Visitors will explore the process of photosynthesis and learn why leaves turn yellow in the fall. Participants will isolate two pigments—chlorophyll and xanthophyll, separate them using a special method, and look at chlorophyll under ultraviolet light.

Get acquainted with sand therapy and see historical gardens

On August 22, at 10:30 and 11:20, an event will take place at the family psychological center “Klen” master class about sand therapy. Participants will learn how this method helps relieve tension and restore internal resources.

At 16:00, an event of the “My District” program will take place in the park on the Moscow River embankment (44 Borisovskie Prudy Street) event, dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of Faina Ranevskaya. Guests will listen to stories about the life and work of the actress, memories from her friends and colleagues, as well as amusing anecdotes and aphorisms.

On August 22 at 7:00 PM, there will be an event in the park by the ‘Raduga’ ponds symphonic music concert. It will be part of the festival “Park Symphony.” In the first act, the “Golden Age” orchestra will perform folk melodies and other well-known compositions. On August 24, the English language club Good Talk will hold master class on creating decorations from colored salt for children aged 6–11. Until August 31, visitors to the “Cosmonautics and Aviation” center will be able to take virtual journey into space. In augmented reality, participants will assemble a rocket, launch it, and go on a flight. Sessions are held from Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 21:00 every 15 minutes.

Until September 6, 30 festival venues of the “Moscow Seasons” project are operating “Houses of Kindness”. Gifts are collected here for participants of the special military operation, children from the new regions of Russia, and animals from shelters.
