Beijing, August 18 /Xinhua/ — A Chinese court has passed a verdict on two men involved in the illegal trafficking of precursors abroad, marking yet another outcome of the strengthened cooperation between China and the United States in combating drugs.
The court in Wuhan city /Hubei province, Central China/ last Friday sentenced a man named Xia to six years in prison, and his son to five and a half years for illegal business activities. It was established that they organized the sale of 123 batches of controlled psychostimulants totaling 1.69 million yuan /approximately 249 thousand US dollars/.
The case attracted the attention of the authorities after the US Drug Enforcement Administration in 2023 reported to the Ministry of Public Security of the PRC about the illegal circulation of sensitive chemical substances related to this case.
