Beijing, August 17 /Xinhua/ — China is monitoring the situation related to the aftermath of the earthquake in Indonesia and is ready to provide active assistance in accordance with Indonesia’s needs, said Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Lin Jian on Monday.

“We express our deep condolences over the loss of lives and sincere sympathy to the families of the deceased and the injured,” said Lin Jian at the daily media briefing regarding the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that occurred on August 15 near the coast of the Indonesian island of Flores.
