Beijing, August 15 /Xinhua/ — From January to July 2026, the passenger traffic on China’s railways reached 2.8 billion person-trips, setting a new historical record. This is evidenced by data published on Saturday by the state-owned corporation “China Railway” /CR/.
According to KZD data, this indicator increased by 4.1 percent year-on-year.
During the reporting period, the average daily number of passenger trains operating in the country reached 11,462, which is 5.2% more than in the same period last year, the KZD reported.
Actively adapting to the increase in passenger traffic against the backdrop of the government’s visa-free transit policy, railway departments across the country have provided conveniences for foreign passengers. Data showed that in the first seven months of this year, the number of trips made by foreign passengers increased by 32.5 percent year-on-year.
