An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.
In the specified period, the positive balance of the current account of the Russian Federation’s balance of payments increased to 21 billion US dollars from 2 billion US dollars in the second quarter of 2025. This was the result of export growth of goods outpacing imports.
Goods exports grew by 27% compared to the second quarter of last year, reaching 126 billion US dollars. This was facilitated by an improvement in the price situation on the global raw materials market. The volume of imports increased by 16%, to 87 billion US dollars, partly due to the strengthening of the ruble.
The deficit in the services balance has not changed significantly. Service imports were higher than last year’s level due to an increase in the average cost of Russian tourist packages. The main contribution to the growth in services exports came from increased spending by foreign tourists in Russia, as well as the volume of transport services provided to non-residents.
