Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova addressed the participants and organizers of the International Forum of Indigenous Peoples with a greeting.

From the transcript:

Dear colleagues!

Welcome to the International Forum of Indigenous Peoples!

In the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia, declared by the head of state Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, such events hold special value, as the ethnic diversity of our vast country is unique.

Representatives of nearly two hundred peoples have lived together for centuries, carefully preserving traditions, the heritage of their ancestors, and their native languages.

There is a large number of guests from abroad at the forum, and they will have a unique opportunity to feel the spirit of our unity and see with their own eyes the solidarity of the peoples of Russia.

A new State National Policy Strategy of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2036 has very recently been approved, one of the objectives of which is to preserve the indigenous culture, traditional way of life, and support the traditional economic activities of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the Russian Federation.

Since January of this year, the implementation of the new Concept for the Sustainable Development of the Indigenous Numerically Small Peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Far East has begun.

The Government of the Russian Federation has approved action plans for the implementation of these documents for the next three years.

Our focus within these plans is on improving the economic and social aspects of life, preserving the native habitat and the unique forms of traditional economic activities of the indigenous small-numbered peoples.

Support, preservation, development – our main priorities!

I am confident that interesting ideas will be developed at the forum, new projects aimed at improving the quality of life of indigenous small-numbered peoples will be launched, which will be implemented not only in Russia but also applied in foreign countries.

I wish you interesting meetings and events during the forum, health, and well-being.
