A traditional rally dedicated to the first director, Viktor Potashov, took place at the memorial plaque at the entrance to the administrative and business complex of the KAMAZ Engine Plant.
The plant workers and pioneers of the enterprise gathered on August 6, on Viktor Potashov’s birthday, to pay tribute to the first head of the Engine Plant. Deputy Director of the plant for personnel Aida Gazizova and trade union chairman Hakim Mingalimov gave solemn speeches to those assembled. “This year we marked a significant date – the 55th anniversary of the construction of the engine plant. This legacy was left to us by the first director, Viktor Denisovich Potashov, who assembled the first team and laid down the traditions in work that we still follow today, – noted Aida Gazizova. – Viktor Denisovich taught us the most important thing – any task is achievable if tackled with a passionate heart. And we continue to follow this with gratitude to this day.”
Hakim Mingalimov, in turn, assured that the memory of the first director is honored by every generation – Viktor Potashov laid the foundations of a powerful enterprise. “Thanks to Viktor Denisovich, in 1980 a branch of Technical School No. 64 was opened at the plant, and then in October 1982 TU-80 was established at the plant, whose graduates later became leaders at KAMAZ.”, – he reminded of another significant contribution of the first director to the life of the enterprise, wishing the plant further development.
Warm memories of Viktor Potashov were also shared by the pioneer of the engine plant, the deputy head of the ‘Tibet’ project, chief technologist Vladimir Barinov. He spoke about how the first director was deeply passionate about his work: everyone at the plant knew they could approach him with any question and receive a thorough answer.
After the ceremonial part with a creative performance – a song about Chelny – the factory ensembles “Lira” and “Orion” performed for the guests of the rally. And at the end of the rally, flowers were laid at the memorial as a tribute to the strength of spirit and the labor feat.
