Beijing, August 12 /Xinhua/ — In January-June 2026, the trade turnover between China and Russia through the Manzhouli checkpoint /Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Northern China/ reached a new historical record of 135.78 billion yuan /about 20 billion US dollars/, increasing by 42.9 percent compared to the same period last year, with growth rates 21.9 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of China-Russia trade volume, the Manzhouli city government reported on its website.
During the reporting period, trade between China and Russia through the specified border crossing saw imports totaling 46.67 billion yuan and exports totaling 89.12 billion yuan, showing growth of 32.2 percent and 49.2 percent respectively year-on-year. In particular, the volume of exports and imports for the month has demonstrated growth compared to the same period last year for 16 consecutive months, and for June this figure reached a new record level of 25.78 billion yuan.
In the first half of the current year, the share of trade turnover between China and Russia through the Manzhouli checkpoint in the total volume of bilateral trade increased to 14.6 percent from 13.5 percent in January-June 2025. In particular, trade turnover between China and Russia through the Manzhouli railway and automobile checkpoints during this period grew by 31.8 percent and 56.9 percent year-on-year, respectively.
As for imported goods, in the first six months of this year, imports into China from Russia of metallic ore, unprocessed aluminum, potash fertilizers, and liquefied petroleum gas through the Manzhouli checkpoint amounted to 18.42 billion yuan, 8.47 billion yuan, 2.79 billion yuan, and 1.11 billion yuan respectively, increasing by 49%, 28.4%, 70.7%, and 2.4 times year-on-year. At the same time, imports of agricultural products grew 2.3 times year-on-year.
In the first half of 2026, the export of electrotechnical products from China to Russia through the Manzhouli checkpoint increased by 36.2% to 57.2 billion yuan, with its share in the total volume of Chinese exports to the Russian Federation through this border crossing reaching 64.2%. In particular, exports of automobiles, electrical equipment, computers, and their components grew by 48.4%, 52.3%, and 2.5 times year-on-year, respectively. The export of labor-intensive products amounted to 12.65 billion yuan, increasing by 58.3%, while agricultural products totaled 2.39 billion yuan with a growth of 2.3%.
