11 regions of the Far East and federal ministries will present projects at the “Far East Street” exhibition, which will be held as part of the Eastern Economic Forum – 2026. Among the main themes are the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin, showcasing cultural diversity and traditions, implementing investment projects, and improving people’s quality of life.
From September 1 to 4, the exhibition will be available to forum participants, and on September 5, 6, and 7 it will open to everyone. The exhibition is organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District.
“The Far East has managed to combine cultural wealth, historical heritage, and traditions of more than a hundred different nationalities and ethnic groups. We have tried to showcase all this diversity and the uniqueness of Far Eastern life at the exhibition “Far East Street.” The popularization of folk art, the preservation of spiritual foundations, historical and cultural monuments, ethnocultural features, and the cultural identity of peoples and ethnic communities are now areas of special attention. This is the task set by the President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. In the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia, we want to show participants and guests of the forum, and visitors to the exhibition, what we love about the Far East and what we are proud of,” said Deputy Prime Minister – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Eastern Economic Forum Yuri Trutnev.
On the eve of the Eastern Economic Forum, the exhibition space is being renewed.
“The President’s decision to declare 2026 the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia emphasizes the special importance of strengthening interethnic harmony, preserving the cultural diversity of our country, and developing humanitarian cooperation. The Far East is home to representatives of many peoples, each possessing a unique cultural heritage. The exhibition ‘Street of the Far East’ will showcase this heritage in all its diversity. In the context of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, the ‘Soul of Russia’ project gains particular significance, within which an exposition combining cultural traditions of various regions of our country as well as contemporary artistic practices will be organized at the EEF. I am convinced that thanks to these initiatives, participants of the EEF will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the history, traditions, and contemporary life of the Far Eastern regions, as well as to see how diverse and yet united the cultural palette of Russia is,” emphasized Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of Russia and Secretary General of the EEF Organizing Committee.
Visitors to the Primorsky Krai pavilion will be able to see performances by the folk song ensemble “Yaritsa” – the Grand Prix winner of the “Russian Student Spring” 2026. Also, the honored amateur art collective of Primorsky Krai – the folk dance ensemble “Plyasunja” – will perform for the guests.
“In Primorsky Krai, representatives of 140 ethnic groups live together in peace and neighborliness. The residents of the region respect their cultural traditions, identity, and religious beliefs. The region is also home to 1,475 representatives of indigenous peoples, among whom the Nanai (Goldi), Tazy, and Udege peoples predominate. In the Year of National Unity of Russia, the region will hold over one hundred events dedicated to strengthening interethnic harmony, peace, and mutual respect among the peoples of the Russian Federation. One of these will be a creative folk art program on the ‘Street of the Far East’,” noted the governor of the krai, Oleg Kozhemyako.
The cultural program of Priamurye will be presented by the Amur Folk Choir. Guests will also be able to learn about the region’s traditional game – Amur biryulki. Additionally, the pavilion of the Amur region will feature video materials about the lifestyle, traditions, and life of the indigenous small-numbered Evenki people and their event calendar, as well as a photo exhibition that will tell about the national sports of the Evenki.
“Representatives of 112 nationalities live in the Amur region. Among them, the Evenks hold a special place, numbering just over 1,300 people. The preservation of Evenk culture has become one of the central themes of the Year of Unity of Peoples in the Amur region. A range of activities aimed at supporting the language, traditions, and identity of the indigenous people is being implemented in the region. Interest in Evenk culture is also growing among tourists – more and more guests from different regions of Russia are coming to the Tyndinsky district to get acquainted with the traditions of the northern people and gain a unique experience,” commented the governor of the Amur region, Vasily Orlov.
The cultural program of Transbaikalia promises to be extensive and diverse. On September 1 and 5, everyone interested will be able to participate in a master class by Milana Kasatkina on making “Fire-Horse” dolls. On September 2 and 6, the venue will host colorful parades showcasing the national costumes of the region’s peoples, and guests will also be introduced to history and traditions through engaging board games. The culmination will be the program on September 4, where melodies of past centuries will be transformed into modern soundtracks performed by the Russian instrumental ensemble named after N.P. Budashkin, which was included in the National Collection of Russia in 2025. Additionally, the ensemble “Wind of Change” will demonstrate the dance traditions of the peoples of Transbaikalia to the audience.
“The Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia declared by the President is a reminder of our common historical fate. Transbaikalia is a region where, over centuries, a special culture of mutual aid and good neighborliness has developed. In our pavilion, we will try to convey this atmosphere through lively communication, music, and movement. It is important for us to involve every visitor in this event so that they feel part of a large multinational family. We are proud of our unity and ready to share this pride with the entire country,” noted the Governor of Transbaikalia, Alexander Osipov.
The key areas of the “Northern Dawn in Yakutia” pavilion will reflect the facets of life in the modern republic. The exhibition “Tropics in Permafrost” will tell about the unique experience of year-round agriculture in the Far North conditions, the “Invest in Yakutia!” zone will present the largest investment projects and development prospects of the region, and the “Discover Yakutia” space will introduce visitors to the tourist and scientific potential of the republic. The “Yakutia – Land of Heroes” exhibition will be dedicated to the courage of the republic’s inhabitants, their contribution to the defense of the Motherland, and modern security technologies, while the “Made in Yakutia” marketplace will showcase regional brands and products from local manufacturers.
“For Yakutia, the unity of the peoples of Russia is an everyday reality. We carefully preserve the cultural diversity, respect for the traditions of all the peoples of our republic, and together create a future in which historical heritage, modern achievements, and love for the Motherland serve as a common strength,” emphasized the head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Aysen Nikolaev.
The program of the Khabarovsk Krai pavilion includes performances by the folk folklore song and dance ensemble “Siun” from the village of Achan in the Amur district, the collective of the Khabarovsk Krai public organization of folk art “Elan”, the folk folklore song and dance ensemble “Giva” from the village of Bulava in the Ulchsky district, and the creative groups of the Krai Palace of Friendship “Rus”.
“Each of the groups is unique in its own way. But I especially want to mention the ensemble ‘Giva’ – its members asked to be given a gift for the ensemble’s 70th anniversary and the opportunity to perform at the Eastern Economic Forum. This is the oldest folklore ensemble in the Far East. It was founded by a simple teacher, Pyotr Dechuli, who was the first author of the ensemble’s vocal works and choreographic performances. ‘Giva’ (which translates from Ulch language as ‘Dawn’) gained international fame and brought glory to the Khabarovsk Krai far beyond its borders. Today, the group’s repertoire includes more than 30 dances and 300 vocal pieces. I am glad that I could fulfill the dream of this remarkable ensemble,” said the governor of Khabarovsk Krai Dmitry Demeshin.
At the “Far East Street,” the International Buryat National Festival “Altargana” will be presented. Its main goal is to comprehensively promote the process of preserving, reviving, and developing the traditional culture of the Buryats, national sports, and showcasing the best achievements in art, literature, cinema, sports, and socio-economic development in general. The festival immerses visitors in the rich diversity of Buryat culture – from folklore and folk art to traditional games and crafts. Ethnographic items at the exhibition will tell about the traditional way of life of the Buryats and offer an opportunity to dive into their culture. Works by the best masters of decorative and applied arts, winners of the XVI International Buryat Festival “Altargana,” held in July 2026, will be presented. Additionally, Buryatia will showcase national sports with master classes: “Һээр шаалган” (breaking the backbone bone), “Талаан тобшо” (a national game), and “Шагай наадан” (a game with bones). Furthermore, there will be demonstration performances of “Бүхэ бариладаан” (Buryat wrestling).
The Chukotka Autonomous Okrug pavilion will showcase the culture and traditions of the region’s indigenous small-numbered peoples as part of the country’s multinational heritage. The pavilion’s entrance group will be styled like a traditional Chukchi dwelling — a yaranga. Visitors will be introduced to the work of the academic Chukchi-Eskimo ensemble “Ergyron,” traditional dances, and music. Masters from the Uelen bone carving workshop, which celebrates its 95th anniversary in 2026, will hold bone carving masterclasses. Using the “People of Chukotka” video panel, guests will learn the stories of the okrug’s residents who preserve the unique traditions of the indigenous peoples.
In the interactive zone “Bering Strait,” visitors will get acquainted with the modern gastronomic culture of Chukotka. The exploration of the region’s cuisine can be continued at the Fish Market, where dishes made from local products will be offered – reindeer borscht, merchant-style porridge with reindeer and mushrooms, fish dumplings, and other northern delicacies. The exhibition will also feature a baidarka, Chukchi glasses made from walrus tusk, a traditional raincoat of sea hunters, and elements of a Chukchi warrior’s armor.
“Chukotka is a unique region where representatives of many nationalities live. More than 36% of our residents are representatives of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of Chukotka: Chukchi, Eskimos, Even, Chuvans. Our main task is to preserve this heritage, support culture and native languages, develop our traditional economic sectors – reindeer herding and marine hunting, and pass traditions to the younger generation. Currently, there is great interest in the national Chukotka wrestling – teikev, which last year the Ministry of Sports included in the register of national sports. I am confident that every guest of our pavilion will be able to feel the uniqueness of Chukotka – a region where ancient traditions live and a completely special energy of the North is felt,” said the governor of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Vladislav Kuznetsov.
The “Made in Sakhalin” pavilion will showcase products reflecting the national and cultural diversity of the island region: ceramic items, souvenirs, gastronomic goods, as well as objects created in the traditions of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of Russia living in the Sakhalin region.
“The Sakhalin Region’s exposition at the ‘Far East Street’ is an opportunity to showcase the uniqueness of our region, its industrial potential, and its richest cultural heritage. This is a portrait of the region created by the hands of Sakhalin and Kuril residents. It is the people — representatives of our multinational family — who are the main driving force of the region, making the Sakhalin Region a true land of opportunity,” said Valery Limarenko, Governor of the Sakhalin Region.
In the pavilion of the Jewish Autonomous Region, guests will literally be able to try on the diversity of the country using the interactive “Magic Mirror.” In the center of the pavilion, a floor spiral with golden inscriptions of “happiness” and “harmony” in different languages will become a visual symbol of common values uniting peoples. This idea will be complemented by a glass showcase called the “Treasury of Culture,” where a violin, menorah, and other historical relics will stand side by side. A rich cultural program is also planned, including folk-stylized and Jewish dances by the exemplary ensemble “Alisa,” patriotic and Jewish compositions by the show group “New Day,” a performance by violinist Evgeny Belov with world hits, and masterclasses on painting souvenirs with Jewish themes by designer Victoria Demikhova and puppet master Olga Melnichenko.
The small pavilion of the Magadan region will be dedicated to the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. The focus will be on the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North living in the region. An installation of hundreds of threads intertwined into the national costumes of the Evens and Koryaks will be set up here, and handmade carpets and display cases with artifacts will also be presented. A stylized yurt will be installed on the street between the pavilions, where master classes will be held for pavilion visitors. Visitors to the Magadan region’s exhibition will also see a performance by the song and dance ensemble of the peoples of the North, “Ener” (“Star”).
“Our creative teams will give the exhibition a special, lively atmosphere. Our brass and stage orchestra will provide a stylish musical background and a good mood, and the song and dance ensemble of the peoples of the North “Ener” will transport guests to the enchanting world of ancient Northern traditions, bringing the pavilion to life with their unique energy,” emphasized the Acting Minister of Economic Development of the Magadan Region, Valentina Zolotykh.
As part of the cultural program at the main venue of the “Far East Street” exhibition, the Kamchatka Krai will present the directorial program “Unity of the Peoples of Kamchatka.” Leading creative groups of the peninsula will perform for the exhibition guests: the honored Cossack ensemble “Rus'”, the Koryak folk dance ensemble “Angt” named after Iosif Zhukov, as well as the region’s best vocalists. The stage in the Kamchatka Krai pavilion is planned to host multi-genre concert performances.
“Kamchatka rightfully takes pride in being home to eight indigenous peoples – more than 13 thousand people who carefully preserve the wisdom of the North, pass native languages, unique traditions, and crafts on to their children. Without their distinctive culture, it is simply impossible to imagine either the history or the present of our region. For us, it is important not only to preserve this unique heritage but also to showcase it in all its grandeur to as many people as possible,” said Vladimir Solodov, Governor of Kamchatka Krai.
The Eastern Economic Forum will be held from September 1 to 4 in Vladivostok on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University. The organizer of the EEF is the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Government of Russia.
