Novosibirsk State University summarized the results of the 2026 admission campaign for budget places in bachelor’s and specialist programs. This year, more than 11 thousand applicants submitted documents to NSU, which is 3,000 people (38%) more than last year. The average competition ratio has also significantly increased: this year it was 8.2 applicants per place, compared to 6.2 last year. The total number of applications exceeded 36 thousand, which is 58% more than last year. Thus, NSU set a historic record for the number of applicants and applications for budget places in bachelor’s and specialist programs.

This year, 1390 budget places are available at NSU. At the priority enrollment stage, 282 people became NSU students. Enrollments under a separate quota (participants of the special military operation and other armed conflicts, as well as their children) are 24% higher than last year.

The greatest increase in applications was noted in fields related to information technology and engineering, with the highest growth in two educational programs in artificial intelligence offered by the Institute of Intelligent Robotics (the passing scores for these are 258 and 270 respectively). The highest competition among programs with a state-funded quota of over 100 students is 19 applications per place in the Faculty of Information Technology’s educational program “Informatics and Computer Engineering. Software Engineering and Computer Science” (the passing score for this program is 260).

The growth of interest in educational programs in engineering and IT profiles is linked to the fact that NSU has twice in a row become the winner of federal grant competitions for training highly qualified specialists in the fields of information technology and artificial intelligence (“TOP-AI” and “TOP-IT START”). In 2026, enrollment took place for two new bachelor’s programs: “Applied Artificial Intelligence” and “Industrial Software Engineering Technologies,” admitting 150 and 100 students respectively. A distinctive feature of the new programs is the early involvement of industry partners in the educational process combined with NSU’s traditionally strong fundamental training based on integration with the Research Institutes of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. This provides students the opportunity to engage during their studies not only in academic but also in real applied tasks. Such prospects, of course, attract applicants. — commented the rector of NSU, corresponding member of the RAS Dmitry Pyshny.

Passing scores for almost all bachelor’s and specialist admission groups are higher than last year. The maximum increase — 27 points — is observed in the educational program of the Faculty of Physics «Applied Mathematics and Physics. Physics and Information Technology». Also, in the top 5 educational programs with the largest increase in passing score (20 points or more) are included «Mathematics and Mechanics. Applied Mathematics and Informatics», «Biology. Advanced Research and Technologies», and «Applied Mathematics and Physics. Applied Physics and Engineering».

The geography of admissions is expanding: this year, applicants from 85 regions — practically from all constituent entities of the Russian Federation (a total of 89 entities) — submitted documents to NSU, with the share of the Novosibirsk region amounting to 26%.
