Beijing, August 7 /Xinhua/ — China’s machinery manufacturing industry demonstrated steady growth in the first half of 2026, driven by a surge in the production of intelligent equipment and high-tech machine tools. This is evidenced by data published on Thursday by the China Federation of Machinery Industry (CFMI).

The added value of products from large machinery enterprises, each with an annual income from main business activities of no less than 20 million yuan (approximately 2.95 million USD), increased by 6.4 percent year-on-year, outpacing similar indicators in the industrial sector and the manufacturing sector overall by 1 and 0.8 percentage points, respectively, during the reporting period.

From January to June, the revenue of major mechanical engineering enterprises in the country reached 16.1 trillion yuan, which is 6.5% higher year-on-year. The production volume of 80 out of 127 types of main products controlled by KFMP increased in the first six months of this year.

Also, during the reporting period, the machinery industry showed good dynamics in the development of new quality productive forces: the added value in the intellectual equipment production sector grew by 16.7% year-on-year, while the production volumes of equipment for 3D printing, industrial robots, and industrial automatic control devices and control systems increased by 48.5%, 28%, and 25.1%, respectively.

Under the influence of demand for high-tech and intelligent manufacturing, the machine tool industry accelerated the transition to high-tech and intelligent solutions, which led to a significant profit growth of 89.2 percent year-on-year, the data showed.

Against the backdrop of the acceleration in the construction of a modern industrial system, as well as the ongoing political measures aimed at expanding domestic demand, stabilizing growth, and promoting transformation, the machinery manufacturing industry is expected to maintain stable development dynamics until the end of the year, said Ye Dinda, vice chairman of the CFMPI. -0-
