Beijing, August 6 /Xinhua/ — The State Certification and Accreditation Administration of China announced on Wednesday that it has decided to suspend the authority of US-based certification bodies to conduct follow-up inspections at manufacturing enterprises for products certified under China’s Compulsory Certification (CCC) system.
The decision takes effect immediately, the agency’s statement says.
The CCC system is part of the access system to the Chinese market, whose objectives include, in particular, ensuring national security and preventing market fraud. It is overseen by the State Administration for Market Regulation of the PRC and implemented by independent certification bodies.
Currently, the CCC certification catalog in China includes 106 types of products from 17 main categories, covering key areas of foreign trade and the livelihood of the population.
