Beijing, August 5 /Xinhua/ — On Tuesday, the first airliner of the Kyrgyz airline Aero Nomad Airlines, operating a direct flight on the Bishkek-Urumqi route, landed at the Tian Shan International Airport in the city of Urumqi, administrative center of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. This is the first regular direct passenger flight of this airline to China.
According to the newspaper “Xinjiang Daily”, the new route will not only strengthen the connectivity between China and Kyrgyzstan, but also give a new boost to the high-quality advancement of the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”.
At the initial stage, flights will be operated by an Airbus A320-200 once a week. The flight duration is approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes. The first flight generated high market demand: the seat occupancy rate for the arriving flight KA887 was 89%, and for the return flight KA888 – 77%. This confirms the strong demand for cross-border travel between China and Kyrgyzstan. Many passengers of the first flight noted that the opening of the new air route significantly simplified travel for citizens of both countries, and the discounted ticket prices and generous baggage allowance substantially reduced travel expenses.
Aero Nomad Airlines stated that in the future, depending on passenger traffic dynamics, they will optimize the frequency and schedule of flights, improve service at all stages – both on the ground and on board, and continuously strengthen the flight safety system to create safer, more comfortable, and convenient conditions for passengers for cross-border travel.
