On April 8, a meeting with students and State Duma deputy Mikhail Delyagin took place at the State University of Management.

In a conversation with economics students, a politician and publicist talked about his career, his views on the state of the modern domestic and global economy, and also gave advice to future civil servants.

“Today, the world is divided not by thematic zones (financial, tourist, technological, etc.), as was predicted, but by macro-regions with effective artificial intelligence systems. This technology becomes key in determining a country’s place in the world. And such a division will ultimately lead to fundamental changes in humanity. And the fundamental thing is primarily connected with culture. And those restructurings that are coming strongly resonate with the Russian cultural code.”For example, the transition from striving for profit to striving for self-realization, humanism, which we have as opposed to most world cultures, the ability for creation and the desire to help others. This combination makes us unique.

The speaker noted that technological transformation is already affecting humanity, and cited a study according to which children who grew up with tablets instead of rattles have a different brain structure.

Students also asked to give three pieces of advice for future civil servants and to talk about how the internship in the State Duma went.

“Practice in the State Duma is a large bureaucracy. You first need to spend a long time on paperwork, then constantly work a lot with papers, etc. But this is quite possible, the GUU knows about us, and if you manage this paperwork, we will be happy to see you. The main three pieces of advice I can give: first, cultivate stress resilience. For me, young people are often like offended snowflakes: something is wrong — they quit, get upset. It will be difficult to achieve anything this way. Second, you need to be able to admit your mistakes and learn from them. Understand that mistakes are a natural part of the process. You need to draw conclusions and move on.”In the third stage, develop applied analysis skills, train your brain for socialization and understanding people. Ask yourself: why and for what purpose do people do certain things.

Answering the question about personal data leakage, the “sensitive” correspondence and protection technology, the deputy advised not to worry, since we live in a world where you can find out absolutely everything about anyone.

“Speaking about data leaks, there is nothing to worry about here; they have leaked repeatedly already, and each time it’s not so terrible anymore. It is necessary to understand that with the advent of smartphones, we live in glass houses, where absolutely everything can be known about each person, but globally, individual private life is of no interest to anyone.”

At the conclusion, Mikhail Delyagin assessed the chances of “Fair Russia” in the upcoming elections to the State Duma.

“I’m confident that we will get through to the State Duma, I do not expect any unpleasant surprises. We will fight for the fourth place, third place is unlikely, and the fifth would mean a reduction in numbers, which is always sad,” the deputy replied.
