Beijing, August 4 /Xinhua/ — The National Development and Reform Commission of China announced on Tuesday that it has allocated 50 million yuan (about 7.36 million US dollars) from the central budget to support recovery efforts in Heilongjiang Province in the northeast of the country, which was affected by floods.
The funds will be primarily directed towards the emergency restoration of infrastructure damaged as a result of the floods, including roads and hydraulic engineering structures, as well as social facilities such as schools and hospitals, with the goal of quickly normalizing production and daily life in the affected areas.
Recently, in several districts of Heilongjiang Province, floods have occurred due to heavy rains. On Tuesday, the State Committee of the People’s Republic of China for Disaster Prevention, Mitigation, and Relief activated a level 4 emergency response mode for natural disasters in the region.
The State Committee for Development and Reform also reported that in addition to the 60 million yuan urgently allocated from the central budget to the flood-affected provinces of Liaoning and Jilin (both in Northeast China) on July 14 and 15, the agency has additionally sent another 300 million yuan to these regions.
