Dmitry Patrushev held a working meeting with the Governor of the Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev held a working meeting with the Governor of the Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko. The main topics were the development of the agro-industrial complex and rural areas, as well as the implementation of environmental projects.
Leningrad Oblast maintains strong positions in several areas of the agro-industrial complex. In particular, the region is a leader in egg production, with this indicator increasing by 14% since the beginning of 2026 compared to the same period last year. Positive dynamics are also noted in dairy production and the food industry – for example, cheese production is steadily growing.
At the meeting, the progress of the harvest campaign was considered separately. The governor reported that the seasonal field work in the region started two weeks earlier than usual. The current pace exceeds the figures for 2025. Also, the average grain yield is significantly higher than last year’s level. Dmitry Patrushev emphasized the importance of monitoring the provision of producers with material and technical resources, including fuel.
In the region, within the framework of the state program “Comprehensive Development of Rural Areas,” the social infrastructure of rural settlements is being systematically improved. In 2025, as part of the state program, major repairs were carried out on three kindergartens, a sports school, and a children’s creativity center in the village of Pasha and the city of Luga, as well as four landscaping projects were implemented. This year, after major repairs, the school in the settlement of Osmino, the stadium in Luga, two kindergartens, and three landscaping facilities are being prepared for opening.
An important direction remains the development of the human resource potential of the agro-industrial complex. Within the framework of the federal project “Personnel in the Agro-Industrial Complex,” the region supports a system of targeted training for students, as well as the creation of agrotechnological classes in general education institutions, which allows for building a continuous trajectory of specialist training for the industry.
Notable results have been achieved within the framework of the national project “Environmental Well-being.” In particular, the liquidation of the “Krasny Bor” landfill continues, and simultaneously measures are being taken to eliminate the landfill in Priozersk. The waste processing complex “Ostrovsky” has been put into operation.
Additionally, in the region, the “Lesookhraniteli” video monitoring system with artificial intelligence elements is used to protect the forest fund, while specialized units are simultaneously equipped with modern fire-fighting equipment. The set of measures taken makes it possible to increase the percentage of forest fire extinguishing within the first day from the moment of their detection.
Following the meeting, Dmitry Patrushev emphasized the need to continue the range of activities of the national project “Ecological Well-being” in the Leningrad region to ensure sustainable development of the region and the preservation of its natural resources.
