On October 21, 2022, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2653 (2022), which provides for sanctions against Haiti, including in the financial sector.
In accordance with paragraph 6 of resolution 2653 (2022), for an initial period of one year from the date of its adoption, there is a requirement to freeze the funds or other assets of any person included in the annex to resolution 2653 (2022) or of individuals or entities listed by the UN Security Council Committee on Haiti, as well as individuals or entities acting on their behalf or under their direction, or entities owned or controlled by them. At the same time, the provision of any funds or other assets to the aforementioned persons is prohibited.
