As part of the implementation of the network educational program of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and the Donbas National Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture, fourth-year students of the “Architectural Environment Design” program at DonNASA completed a production project-technological internship at the Higher School of Design and Architecture of the Engineering and Construction Institute of SPbPU.

The internship was completed by students of the Donbass National Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture Polina Bondarenko, Anastasia Khapchuk, and Olga Shchus. Their scientific supervisors were Professor Ekaterina Voznyak and Associate Professor Maria Drebezgova from the Higher School of Design and Architecture at ISI. The main result of their joint work was a full-fledged interior design project for the entrance group of the “Nauka-Polytech” hotel of SPbPU.

During the internship, the students visited the site and conducted a detailed analysis of the existing condition of the hotel’s entrance area to determine which solutions would make the space more comfortable, expressive, and functional.

The interns studied the layout structure of the room, the specifics of its daily use, and also identified key problems related to the organization of visitor flows, the placement of functional zones, and the overall visual perception of the interior. Based on the collected data, they developed several layout options that fully considered the principles of ergonomics, strict safety requirements, and the need to preserve the visual integrity of the space.

As a result, an interior concept was developed aimed at creating a comfortable, aesthetic, and safe environment that fully meets modern standards for designing public spaces. This practice-oriented approach allowed students not only to successfully solve a practical design task but also to demonstrate high professional skills in working with a real object, combining functionality and artistic expressiveness.
