Rosneft makes a significant contribution to the restoration of aquatic biological resources and the preservation of biodiversity in the regions of its production activities. In July, the Company’s subsidiaries released over 30 million fish juveniles into Russian rivers and lakes. Among them are species listed in the Red Book of Russia.
Employees of enterprises, their family members, and students from Rosneft’s partner specialized universities traditionally joined the environmental campaigns.
The largest stocking events took place in Siberia. RN-Yuganskneftegaz released a record 26 million young Siberian sturgeon, peled, nelma, and muksun; RN-Uvatneftegaz – 1.6 million peled; Tyumenneftegaz – over 1.3 million muksun. Kharampurneftegaz replenished water bodies with more than 362 thousand muksun fingerlings and about 3.4 thousand nelma; Taas-Yuryakh Oil Production – about 299 thousand peled; RN-Purneftegaz – over 126 thousand nelma and 90 thousand muksun; Verkhnechonskneftegaz – 83 thousand grayling; Vostsibneftegaz – 21 thousand Siberian sturgeon of the Yenisei population; Angarsk Petrochemical Company – 10 thousand peled.
Special attention was paid to the restoration of the sterlet, an ancient inhabitant of water bodies, some populations of this species are listed in the Red Book of Russia and several regions of the country. Employees of “Udmurtneft” replenished the region’s biological resources with almost 37 thousand sterlet fingerlings. Workers of “Samaraneftegaz” released more than 15 thousand sterlet juveniles into the Saratov reservoir, and “Orenburgneft” replenished the Ural River with valuable fish by releasing 3.4 thousand fingerlings.
At the request of the oil workers, specialists raised fry according to scientific recommendations. This increases their survival and helps restore populations in the natural environment.
