Washington, July 30 /Xinhua/ — American forces on Wednesday evening launched new strikes against Iran in response to Tehran’s latest attacks amid the expansion of the conflict across the region.
The attack began at 8:00 PM Eastern North American Time on Wednesday / 00:00 GMT on Thursday / as a “powerful response to yesterday’s attempts by Iran to strike American forces deployed in the Middle East,” the US Central Command reported on social media.
Earlier on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump twice promised that Washington would take decisive retaliatory measures against Iran. According to him, an American liquefied natural gas tanker, located in an Egyptian port, was set on fire as a result of what apparently was a drone attack that occurred earlier that day.
As reported by The Wall Street Journal citing a US official, the latest US operation is expected to be more extensive than previous actions by both sides in recent weeks, and will target a greater number of sites over a wider area. –0–
