Consortium for Achieving Technological Leadership: GSU and A.N. Kosygin RSU Discussed Cooperation

The heads of the State University of Management and the A.N. Kosygin Russian State University discussed joint efforts to achieve technological leadership of the Russian Federation.

Rector of RSU named after A.N. Kosygin Valery Belgorodsky and Vice-Rector Yuri Borovin arrived at GUU to meet with the Rector of our university Vladimir Stroev and Vice-Rector Maria Karelina.

The main topic of the conversation was the concept of creating a consortium to solve complex problems aimed at achieving technological leadership of the Russian Federation. Issues of joint participation in machine-tool building competitions and the development of competencies in the field of industrial design were also discussed.

The guests paid special attention to the practical developments by students and staff of the Russian State University for the Humanities, including Valery Belgorodsky who showed interest in our university’s experience in creating and developing the Student Design Bureau (SDB).

After the meeting with the leadership of the State University of Management, the guests were given a tour of the university campus and introduced to the scientific infrastructure.

Valery Belgorodsky and Yuri Borovin visited the Center for Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer, which is engaged in the registration of protectable results of intellectual activity, as well as the commercialization of the most promising developments of our university.

In the university laboratories, guests learned about programs that help train personnel for the aircraft manufacturing, shipbuilding, and transportation industries. Thus, GUU, in partnership with the Research and Production Association “RosGeoTech,” jointly carries out scientific projects, implements educational programs, and conducts career guidance for schoolchildren. Within the framework of the Center for Space Research, Unmanned and Radioelectronic Technologies, training is also planned for employees of partner universities in the field of mechanical engineering related to space. Additionally, at GUU, laboratories are being developed where engineers are trained under continuing professional education programs in the field of computerized numerical control (CNC) systems.

At the end of the meeting, the staff of GUU presented a project for a modernized machine tool for light industry, whose distinctive feature is the use of machine vision for material defect detection. The rector of RSU named after A.N. Kosygin noted the relevance and timeliness of this development, as well as the possibility of replicating this experience, and invited them for a return visit.
