Beijing, July 29 /Xinhua/ — The profits of China’s electronics industry in the first half of 2026 increased by 96.9 percent year-on-year, contributing 8.5 percentage points to the growth of total profits of large industrial enterprises. This is evidenced by official data released on Monday.
Thanks to the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and growing demand for computing power, profits in the production of computers and computer peripheral equipment (including mice, keyboards, and monitors) increased by 689.3% and 305.8% respectively compared to the same period last year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China.
In the field of electronic device manufacturing, profit from the production of integrated circuits increased by 2579.5%. At the same time, profit from the production of discrete semiconductor devices, such as transistors and diodes, grew by 31.2%.
In the electronic components sector, profit from special electronic materials grew by 209.7 percent, and profit from the production of electronic circuits increased by 26.9 percent.
Data published on Monday also showed that the profits of large industrial enterprises in China, each with an annual income from main business activities of at least 20 million yuan (approximately 2.95 million USD), grew by 18.7 percent year-on-year in the first half of this year.
Yu Weining, a statistician at the General Statistical Office, noted that despite steady growth, the external environment remains complex and volatile. The global commodity price dynamics remain uncertain. Industrial enterprises also face challenges such as insufficient market demand and pressure on working capital.
