Moscow, July 28 /Xinhua/ — Russia has welcomed China’s initiative to establish a World Organization for Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the very beginning. This was noted on Monday by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.
“Russia has welcomed the Chinese initiative to create the World Organization for Artificial Intelligence Cooperation from the very beginning. The signing of the agreement on July 16 in Shanghai to establish the World Organization was an important practical step towards launching this additional mechanism for cooperation to build the capacity of developing countries,” she said at a regular briefing.
M. Zakharova expressed confidence that this organization will ensure equal rights and opportunities for states in the field of AI and will become an effective tool for overcoming digital inequality.
She also noted that the priorities of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of AI remain the interaction of companies and research centers, joint training of specialists, and coordination of work on international platforms.
Separately, M. Zakharova emphasized the demand for coordination of approaches within multilateral formats, including the UN, BRICS, SCO, the International Telecommunication Union, and the World Organization for Cooperation on AI, in the interest of inclusive technology development for the benefit of countries of the entire world community.
