Urumqi, July 28 /Xinhua/ — From January to June 2026, the volume of imported and exported goods through the Khorgos checkpoint in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region /Northwestern China/ reached a record level of 22.954 million tons, an increase of 3.1 percent compared to the same period last year, according to data from Khorgos Customs.
By this indicator, Khorgos took first place among all checkpoints in Xinjiang.
The main types of imported goods are electromechanical products, unprocessed copper and copper materials, agricultural products, foodstuffs, metal ore, concentrates, and others, among which the most notable was the growth in trade volume of imported agricultural products and foodstuffs. Yu Chengzhong, chairman of the board of the international trade company “Jinyi” in the city of Khorgos, told a Xinhua correspondent that thanks to the increase in orders from Central Asian countries, his company exports about 1,600 tons of goods daily, including agricultural products, daily necessities, automobiles, and more.
The Khorgos checkpoint is located on the China-Kazakhstan border and is a first-class land port of the country with the longest history and the largest total volume of transportation in China’s western region.
