On July 25, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) inscribed the Chinese heritage sites of Jingdezhen porcelain craftsmanship on the World Heritage List during the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee. Thus, the total number of UNESCO World Heritage sites in China reached 61.
Ten years ago, in July 2016, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping gave an important directive regarding work related to the nomination of World Cultural Heritage sites: “Nominated projects must favor highlighting the historical and cultural value of Chinese civilization, reflecting the spiritual aspirations of the Chinese nation, and demonstrating to the world the authentic ancient China and modern China in all their fullness.”
Since then, these insightful ‘three favorables’ have become an important guideline for the work on submitting applications for the inclusion of sites, including Jingdezhen, in the World Heritage list.
