In Russia, active construction of non-residential infrastructure continues, which contributes to balanced regional development and provides people with necessary facilities. According to the results of the first half of 2026, 3.5% more non-residential real estate was commissioned than in the same period last year. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
“Business centers, manufacturing facilities, commercial and social establishments, logistics hubs create a full-fledged environment for living, provide people with jobs, offer services, and contribute to economic growth. Such construction provides people with the necessary facilities for a comfortable life. Starting from 2023, Russia has seen a consistent increase in the commissioning of non-residential real estate, and last year a historic maximum was reached – over 41 million square meters. Overall, taking into account residential construction, we built 150 million square meters of real estate last year – the largest volume in the entire modern history of Russia. In the first half of 2026, we also observe a positive trend: the commissioning of non-residential spaces increased by 3.5% compared to the same period last year and reached 14.7 million square meters. This result was largely made possible thanks to significant backlogs from previous years. We will continue to actively carry out this work within the framework of the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” even despite the challenging situation, so that every new square meter works for the comfort of people and the development of the regions,” reported Marat Khusnullin.
Over the past six months, Moscow became the leader in the volume of commissioned non-residential property, with 2 million square meters of non-residential space delivered. The Moscow Region took second place with a figure of 1.9 million square meters. Krasnodar Krai rounded out the top three leaders, where more than 970 thousand square meters were commissioned during the reporting period.
“A modern residential district must necessarily have all the infrastructure required for living: schools, kindergartens, hospitals, shops, and other institutions where one can not only live but also work, relax, and receive education. The construction of non-residential real estate alongside housing development is becoming a driver of this process. If we analyze the situation by federal districts, the greatest activity in the construction of non-residential facilities over the past six months was demonstrated by the Central, Volga, and Southern Federal Districts. There, 5.3 million, 2.5 million, and 1.8 million square meters were commissioned respectively,” noted the First Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Alexander Lomakin.
In the first half of 2026, the largest share of commissioned buildings was in the commercial segment – 4.6 million sq. m, which accounts for 31% of the total non-residential stock. Slightly fewer buildings of various other purposes were put into operation – 3.4 million sq. m. Industrial buildings accounted for 2.9 million sq. m. Also included in this statistic are agricultural buildings, administrative and educational buildings, healthcare facilities, and others.
In total, 8.9 thousand non-residential real estate objects have been commissioned since the beginning of the current year.
