Beijing, July 27 /Xinhua/ — China is ready to further strengthen strategic coordination with Brazil in bilateral and multilateral frameworks. This was stated on Monday by the Chairman of the PRC, Xi Jinping, during a phone conversation with the president of the South American country, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Xi Jinping said that in recent years the parties have made positive progress in building a China-Brazil community of shared destiny and aligning development strategies, which has played an important role in promoting the development of both countries and improving the well-being of the two peoples, as well as making a valuable contribution to stabilizing the unstable international situation.

This year, China is marking the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the country has begun implementing the 15th Five-Year Plan, and Brazil is entering a period of carrying out key domestic political tasks, said Xi Jinping. According to him, China is ready to continue strengthening bilateral and multilateral strategic coordination with Brazil, thereby maintaining the positive momentum of building the China-Brazil community with a shared future.

In the face of new circumstances and challenges, China and Brazil — important countries of the Global South — must firmly stand both on the right side of history and on the side of civilization’s progress, and play an even more constructive role in reforming and improving the global governance system, as well as in protecting international justice, emphasized the Chairman of the PRC.

The parties must jointly promote high-quality development of cooperation within the framework of the “Big BRICS,” chart the right course of interaction, maintain the momentum of unity, achieve more results, and write a new chapter in the history of solidarity and autonomy of the Global South, he said.

Xi Jinping noted that China highly values Brazil’s international status and significant influence, supports it in safeguarding sovereignty and independence, countering external interference, and promoting the maintenance of peace and stability in the region and worldwide.
