Tehran, July 27 /Xinhua/ — Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei stated that the United States exchanges views with Iran through intermediaries, including Pakistan and Qatar, Iranian media reported, citing his remarks in an interview with the Austrian television company ORF on Sunday.
E. Bagai emphasized that in order to establish any dialogue, it is necessary to prepare the “proper ground,” noting that the United States has destroyed such ground.
He accused Washington of violating in practice “all provisions” within the framework of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the USA.
E. Bagai also stated that currently Iran’s priority “is to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity and to protect its people from war crimes committed by the United States.”
Under the memorandum of understanding signed on June 18, the US and Iran were to hold negotiations within 60 days to reach a final agreement, but the fate of the talks hangs by a thread due to renewed clashes between them in the past two weeks. –0–
