Moscow, July 26 /Xinhua/ — Two mountaineers died while descending from Elbrus in southern Russia, and four others are missing. Search operations are underway. This was reported on Sunday by the investigative department of the Investigative Committee for Kabardino-Balkaria.
“According to preliminary data, on July 25, 2026, a group of seven people was climbing Mount Elbrus. One of the climbers descended from the mountain and reported that two members of the group felt unwell at an altitude of 5100 meters; according to available information, they have died,” the agency reported.
The regional EMERCOM office reported that rescuers found the bodies of two deceased and continue searching for four more missing persons.
According to RIA Novosti, the tourists are from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
