Tehran, July 26 /Xinhua/ — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Saturday called on the EU to take “decisive” action in connection with Ukraine’s attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea.
According to a statement from the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, A. Araghchi made these remarks during a phone call with the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, during which both parties discussed the latest developments in the region.

Earlier that same day, the ministry stated that the Ukrainian attack led to an explosion aboard the vessel, resulting in the death of a sailor and injuries to another.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Iran has never interfered in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, adding that the strike could further “spread the flames of war and exacerbate instability.”
Also on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the armed forces of his country struck a Russian military ship and vessels used for transporting military cargo related to Iran in the Caspian Sea.
