Beijing, July 25 /Xinhua/ — China has released a plan to comprehensively promote the high-quality development of integrated transportation services during the implementation of the country’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030). The Ministry of Transport of China reported this on Friday.
The plan was jointly announced by the Ministry of Transport, the State Railway Administration of China, the Civil Aviation Administration of China, and the State Post Bureau. The plan provides that by 2030 the country will have basically established a modern system of integrated transportation services.
According to the plan, China will stimulate coordinated and integrated development of a comprehensive transport system by accelerating the modernization of transit passenger services, improving the quality and efficiency of service at integrated transport hubs, promoting the integrated development of transport services and tourism, supporting the high-quality development of multimodal transportation, as well as advancing the integrated development of passenger, freight, and postal transportation in rural areas.
By 2030, the transshipment rate within one hour in multimodal freight transport at key cargo hubs is expected to reach 90 percent. The volume of container shipments under the “same container throughout the entire route” scheme in multimodal freight transport by rail and sea is expected to increase to 10 million standard containers /twenty-foot equivalent units, TEU/.
It is expected that eco-friendly modes of transport will account for 76 percent of trips in major cities. It is assumed that the share of administrative villages where comprehensive postal and logistics service stations have been built at the village level will reach 90 percent. According to forecasts, the share of heavy trucks using new energy sources will amount to 20 percent of the country’s heavy truck fleet, and the coverage of main passenger transport hubs with small vehicle rental services is expected to reach 100 percent.
According to the plan, by 2035 the modern system of integrated transportation services will be further improved: transport zones will be primarily established where commuting to work and back within metropolitan areas will take one hour respectively; within urban agglomerations a 2-hour transport accessibility is planned, and it will be possible to travel from one major city in the country to another metropolis within 3 hours nationwide. The plan also aims to ensure express cargo delivery within China within one day, to neighboring countries within two days, and to major cities worldwide within three days. -0-
