From June 4 to August 30, the arts festival is taking place in the capital “Russian Cat”, organized by the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts. In its anniversary year, it became a partner of the project for the first time “Summer in Moscow”, turning the museum garden into a space for creativity and acquaintance with Russian traditions.
In a month and a half, more than 300 events took place here — from art and craft workshops to performances and film screenings.

The Russian government provides constant support to the industry: one billion rubles have been allocated for these purposes this year. The museum turned 45 on July 21. The anniversary celebration was organized as part of the “Russian Cat” festival. The program began with a performance by the National Academic Orchestra of Russian Folk Instruments named after N.P. Osipov. The musicians performed a musical-literary composition inspired by Alexander Pushkin’s “The Tale of Tsar Saltan.” Compositions by composers Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Pyotr Tchaikovsky were played from the stage.

We see how the classical academic space is successfully transforming into an authoritative platform for the development of the modern creative industry and object design. Significant educational and creative projects are being implemented here at a high professional level, and the exhibition halls consistently become a place of attraction for the general public and the expert community,” said Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation.
In honor of the museum’s birthday, creative workshops, tours of the estate of Count Ivan Osterman, where the cultural institution is located, as well as other events were held as part of the festival.

The festival became part of the large-scale city project “Summer in Moscow.” More than 500 venues across the capital were involved in the third season. About 56 thousand events took place in the city during the first one and a half months of summer.
Tatyana Rybkina, director of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts, explained that the institution is currently undergoing a phase of renewal. New exhibitions are opening, the museum is becoming part of major city projects, and modern technologies and best practices are being applied. All this is necessary to reveal decorative art as an important part of the country’s cultural code.
The institution has ambitious plans for the next five years: to become one of the leading national museums of Russia and the main center for the study, preservation, and popularization of crafts and trades. For example, museum attendance in the second quarter of 2026 increased by 107 percent compared to the same period last year, and in June the figure grew approximately fivefold.
The “Russian Cat” festival has established itself as one of the bright projects of the warm season. It demonstrates how the traditions of folk art and folkloric motifs are reflected in contemporary art, music, and design.
