On July 20, 2026, the Moscow Exchange provided market participants with the opportunity to place shares of unit investment funds (UIFs) of all types on the over-the-counter market for the conclusion of targeted transactions with settlements in the NCC.
The first management company to start accepting applications for transactions with closed-end mutual fund shares was “VIM-Investments” with the “VIM-Spectrum” fund.
Vladimir Ovcharov, Director of the Moscow Exchange Equities Market:
“The Moscow Exchange has implemented a technological solution that allows for the acceptance of preliminary applications for mutual fund shares without listing. Thanks to the use of the exchange infrastructure, management companies can now preliminarily collect funds from investors and issue shares in an amount corresponding to the received demand. This solution will open additional opportunities for management companies in the distribution of securities among investors, allow an increase in assets under management, and reduce the costs of organizing share issuance by cutting financing and issuance organization expenses. These new opportunities have also arisen due to the advanced infrastructure for issuing and accounting shares through the NSD Mutual Fund Platform, which unites 190 management companies and more than 300 brokers.”
Investment units of the closed-end mutual fund “VIM-Spectrum” are available only to qualified investors. Transactions with the fund’s units can be made in over-the-counter modes with subsequent clearing. The closed-end mutual fund “VIM – Spectrum” is focused on investments in non-public companies with revenue starting from 3 billion rubles in the sectors of consumer goods and retail, medicine and pharmaceuticals, technology, and digital infrastructure.
The Moscow Exchange Group is the only multifunctional platform in Russia for trading stocks, bonds, derivatives, currencies, money market instruments, and commodities. The Moscow Exchange Group includes the central securities depository (JSC NCO NSD), as well as the clearing center (NCO NCC (JSC)), which acts as the central counterparty in the markets, enabling the Moscow Exchange to provide clients with a full cycle of trading and post-trading services.
