Rosneft’s capital investments in projects for the utilization of associated petroleum gas (APG) in 2025 amounted to 52.9 billion rubles. The results are presented in the published Sustainability Report.

Responsible environmental stewardship is an integral part of the corporate culture and one of the key principles of Rosneft’s activities. One of the Company’s strategic goals is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Rosneft implements a range of measures aimed at introducing innovative technologies, enhancing production safety levels, and caring for the environment.

When commissioning new assets, Rosneft applies a comprehensive approach to field development. Measures for the rational use of associated petroleum gas (APG) are planned already at the project documentation preparation stage, which allows for maintaining high environmental standards from the very beginning of production. To develop gas infrastructure and increase APG utilization levels, the Company is implementing the Gas Investment Program. In 2025, the construction of 14 key facilities was completed, contributing to achieving this goal. One of the most significant projects was the booster compressor station at the North-Komsomolskoye field in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The commissioning of this facility enabled the beneficial use of 0.7 billion cubic meters of gas and achieving a 95% utilization rate by December 2025 for the enterprise. At the Russkoye field, TyumenNefteGaz JSC put into operation the first stage of a boiler house with a capacity of 232 MW. The facility is used for oil treatment and heating the working agent injected into the reservoir pressure maintenance system, which helps increase the recovery factor of high-viscosity oil.In addition, in the reporting year, the construction of gas pipelines for supplying gas to JSC Samaraneftegaz to the Company’s gas processing plants was completed.

Increasing the efficiency of associated petroleum gas (APG) utilization is achieved not only through large-scale infrastructure but also by implementing innovations. For example, specialists from Orenburgneft have developed and patented a technology for purifying associated gas from sulfur compounds directly in the pipeline. A liquid neutralizing reagent is supplied to the gas flow, reducing the content of hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans without installing additional equipment. The implementation of this solution at the Vakhitovskaya group of fields allowed an increase in APG utilization volumes from 20,000 to 80,000 cubic meters per day. The purified gas is sent to the Zagorskaya gas treatment plant for further processing.

The associated petroleum gas utilization rate for mature assets in 2025 was 92.2%.

As part of its environmental strategy, Rosneft is also developing advanced carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies that ensure its safe isolation in deep geological formations or its beneficial use to enhance oil recovery from reservoirs.

In 2025, studies were completed on potentially suitable geological objects for environmentally stable CO₂ storage in the areas of oil refining and petrochemical enterprises. The first field tests of carbon dioxide injection technologies are scheduled at the Ural-Volga and Western Siberia fields in 2026. The Company is conducting this work jointly with the Innopraktika Foundation and Lomonosov Moscow State University, studying the potential of aquifers, coal and salt formations, as well as depleted oil and gas reservoirs.
