Beijing, July 21 /Xinhua/ — A representative of the China Coast Guard (CCG) stated that, on humanitarian grounds, Chinese authorities on Tuesday morning permitted the evacuation of the wounded from a Philippine vessel that was illegally “grounded” near the Ren’ai Reef in the South China Sea (SCS).
A representative of the Asian Boxing Confederation Jiang Lue noted that the evacuation was carried out under the supervision of the Chinese side using a small boat of the Philippine vessel.
The BOC will continue to carry out law enforcement activities in accordance with the law to protect China’s territorial sovereignty, as well as its maritime rights and interests in the Ren’ai Reef area and the adjacent waters, Jiang Lue added.
