Wuhan, July 21 /Xinhua/ — On Monday, a special exhibition “Treasures of the Kremlin: from Peter I to Catherine II” opened at the Hubei Provincial Museum /Central China/, featuring 129 exhibits /sets/ of royal Russian relics, attracting a large number of visitors.
The exhibition is organized jointly by the aforementioned museum, the Moscow Kremlin Museum /MKM/, the World Expo Museum in Shanghai, and the Art Exhibitions China center with the assistance of the Cultural Tourism Corporation of Hubei Province. The exposition includes valuable museum items from the 17th-18th centuries from the MKM collection, including crowns, scepters, orders, court costumes, weapons, silverware, and other artifacts.
The exhibition covers more than 170 years of history – from the founding of the Romanov dynasty in the early 17th century to the reign of Catherine II in the late 18th century, vividly recreating the glorious path of the Russian Empire from its establishment and reforms to its flourishing.
As stated by Dmitry Petrov, Deputy Consul General of the Russian Federation in Wuhan, bringing the valuable MMK collection to the exhibition in Wuhan allows local audiences to see the unique charm of Russian cultural treasures, and also demonstrates the desire to strengthen cultural exchanges between Russia and China.
Elena Gagarina, the General Director of the MMK, said that she is very glad to introduce the Chinese public to the bright and glorious pages of Russian history and expressed confidence that the exhibition will make an important contribution to deepening the cultural dialogue, thereby giving new impulse to strengthening friendly neighborhood relations between the peoples of the two countries.
