Moscow, July 20 /Xinhua/ — Russia and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea have confirmed their commitment to the further development of the entire range of bilateral relations. This was stated in a message from the Russian Foreign Ministry, published on Monday following the talks in Moscow between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and DPRK Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui during the 3rd round of the Russia-North Korea strategic dialogue.
“The parties confirmed their firm commitment to further developing the entire range of bilateral relations in accordance with the spirit and letter of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, which established the traditionally friendly Russian-Korean relations at a qualitatively new allied level,” the statement notes.
The Russian foreign ministry emphasized that during the exchange of views on key international issues, a mutual understanding was expressed that the main cause of the deterioration of the situation in Northeast Asia and the world as a whole is the irresponsible behavior of the United States and its allies, who are increasing provocative military activity around the Korean Peninsula.
“In these conditions, the comprehensive deepening of relations between Russia and the DPRK contributes to ensuring regional and international security, the formation of a new just multipolar world order based on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and consideration of each other’s interests,” the Russian Foreign Ministry noted.
The strategic dialogue at the level of the foreign policy departments of Russia and the DPRK was launched in November 2024 in accordance with the agreements reached at the Russia-North Korea summit in Pyongyang. “The parties agreed to continue communication in this format and further exchanges through the foreign policy departments of the two countries at various levels,” the message states.
