Saint Petersburg, July 20 /Xinhua/ — The Russian aerospace company “Bureau 1440” successfully launched the second batch of satellites to provide next-generation communication services. This was reported to TASS on Monday, citing the company’s press service.
The launch of spacecraft was carried out on July 19. The satellites separated from the launch vehicle and established communication with the Flight Control Center “Bureau 1440.” After completing the checks and commissioning of the subsystems, the satellites will begin the transfer to the target orbit to provide communication services.
At the end of March, the company “Bureau 1440” successfully launched the first 16 satellites of the low Earth orbit constellation “Rassvet” into orbit. The spacecraft integrate a communication system based on 5G NTN architecture, an upgraded power supply system, next-generation inter-satellite laser communication terminals, and a plasma propulsion system.
The start of commercial operation of the broadband satellite data transmission service based on a low Earth orbit constellation is scheduled for 2027. –0–
