A year ago, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, inaugurated traffic on the Dyurtyuli – Achit highway, an extension of the M-12 “Vostok” expressway to Yekaterinburg. The new section is in demand not only among motorists but also businesses. Approximately 90% of users travel through it entirely, indicating the road’s important transit significance. “We continue systematic work on the comprehensive development of the country’s territories, including strengthening the road network. For this purpose, we are also building modern high-speed highways. A vivid example is the M-12 ‘Vostok’ route, which has become an infrastructure megaproject in modern Russian history. It was implemented under the control of the state company ‘Avtodor,’ which is celebrating its 17th anniversary today. Last year, the President inaugurated the movement on the new section of the M-12 from the city of Dyurtyuli to the settlement of Achit, thanks to which we managed to extend the ‘West – East’ high-speed corridor and provide a seamless route between Saint Petersburg, Moscow, and Yekaterinburg. In the first year since its opening, the Dyurtyuli – Achit section has proven to be in demand among motorists. On average, the number of trips on it exceeds 6.5 thousand per day, with the number of trips by freight vehicles exceeding 4 thousand per day. More than 90% of users travel the entire section, which indicates the predominantly transit nature of the trips.””Passenger car drivers save more than six hours on the trip from Kazan to Yekaterinburg, and freight drivers save over four hours, which opens up new opportunities for business by reducing logistics costs,” said Marat Khusnullin.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that with the onset of summer, traffic intensity on Dyurtyuli – Achit has increased. As a rule, at this time, motorists set off on trips to recreational areas, and the new section helps them reach these places faster and more comfortably. For example, in June alone, drivers made almost 10,000 trips along it per day.
According to the head of the state company “Avtodor,” Vyacheslav Petushenko, the extension of the M-12 “Vostok” high-speed highway to Yekaterinburg has become a driver of business and entrepreneurial activity development. “Thanks to the ability to deliver goods faster and more safely, companies’ logistics costs decrease within a predictable time frame, and business processes are optimized. As a result, freight traffic growth is observed along almost the entire M-12 ‘Vostok’ route. For example, the highest growth rate is seen in the Republic of Tatarstan, where the number of freight transport routes increased by 78%, totaling over 5,000 trips per day. In Vladimir Oblast, this indicator rose by 53%, in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast by 43%, in the Chuvash Republic by 39%, and in Moscow Oblast by 26%,” emphasized Vyacheslav Petushenko.
The Dyurtyuli – Achit section of the M-12 “Vostok” highway passes through the territories of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Perm Krai, and Sverdlovsk Oblast. The project is being implemented within the framework of the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” which is carried out at the initiative of the President. The activities of the national project are synchronized with the people’s program of the United Russia party.
