At the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk read out the welcoming words from the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, to the participants and guests of the festival: “Dear friends! I warmly welcome you on the occasion of the opening of the next, XXXV International Arts Festival “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk”. The festival, held annually on the hospitable Belarusian soil, is a significant cultural event not only for the multinational Slavic world but for the entire vast Eurasian space. Its motto – “Through art to peace and mutual understanding” – sounds especially relevant in the current rather complex international realities and undoubtedly resonates deeply in the hearts of people from different countries. The program of the Slavianski Bazaar, as always, is very rich and diverse. Residents of Vitebsk and guests of this ancient and beautiful city will be able to attend concerts of classical, modern, and folk music, theatrical premieres, vocal competitions, various exhibitions and presentations. Special attention will traditionally be given to the young audience.”Part of the festival events is held under the auspices of the Union State – to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the launch of integration processes between Russia and Belarus. The International Art Festival “Slavianski Bazaar” has been held since 1992. This year, artists from 52 countries are participating, and the festival events are taking place in Vitebsk from July 14 to 20.
