Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev held a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Presidential Fund for Environmental and Nature Conservation Projects. The collegial body met for the first time, and its members included representatives of government authorities, experts, and heads of major companies involved in implementing charitable initiatives.

“I want to thank everyone who decided to join this work. I expect the board of trustees to become a platform for open dialogue. One of the important tasks of the board is to oversee the effective use of funds allocated for grants. In a year and a half since the establishment of the Presidential Fund, support has already been provided to more than 300 environmental and conservation projects. They are all different and, most importantly, proposed by the industry community or the public. The total amount of grants reached almost 2 billion rubles,” said Dmitry Patrushev.

The Deputy Prime Minister reported that, as part of the board of trustees, decisions will also be made regarding the selection of initiatives for funding from attracted funds. This will allow the best practices of grant recipients to be disseminated across the entire country.

At the meeting, the procedure for evaluating project results was approved. In addition, through voting, four initiatives were selected to be financed from extrabudgetary funds.

The selected projects involve the creation of a unified digital environment for employees of organizations managing specially protected natural areas, the development of a system to enhance the competencies of leaders in the field of nature reserves, and the introduction of laboratories for growing rare plants in schools. Additionally, one of the projects is the “Media Center.” It will serve the function of informing about the implementation of initiatives, popularizing professions, and increasing the recognition of grant recipients.

In conclusion, Dmitry Patrushev emphasized the importance of increasing the number and scale of environmental projects. Business support plays a significant role in this.

The Presidential Fund for Environmental and Conservation Projects was registered on March 3, 2025. It was established in accordance with the decree of the President of Russia. The main grant areas include the protection of rare and endangered animal species and their habitats, the study and monitoring of biodiversity, informational and educational projects in the field of protecting wild animals, unique and relict ecosystems, as well as plant species listed in the Red Books. The total volume of the grant fund annually amounts to 1 billion rubles from the federal budget.
