Beijing, July 15 /Xinhua/ — The administration of the Democratic Progressive Party /DPP/ of Taiwan is ignoring economic principles and market laws in an attempt to separate the island’s industry from mainland China, said Zhu Fenglian, the official representative of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of the PRC, at a press conference on Wednesday.
She made these remarks in response to a media question regarding a statement by an official from Taiwan’s economic department about plans to decouple the island’s industries from mainland China and strengthen ties with the so-called “democratic” countries in the supply chains of certain key sectors.
Zhu Fenglian noted the continuous deepening of cooperation in production and supply chains between both sides of the Taiwan Strait. According to official data, from January to June this year, the trade volume between mainland China and Taiwan increased by 25.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
