On Stroiteley Street, within the framework of the capital repair program, the ensemble of seven buildings built in 1954 (house 4, buildings 1–7) was renovated. The features of the work were described incomplex of the urban economy of Moscow.

A large-scale ensemble was erected under the leadership of architect Dmitry Burdin as part of a quarter for the scientific and creative intelligentsia. The houses, built according to a typical series project, have an underground garage, which also serves as an architectural dominant: the part facing Stroiteley Street resembles an ancient aqueduct.

The buildings are adorned with rich stucco, characteristic of Soviet neoclassicism. Moreover, they are faced with red tiles, which also gave the complex its unofficial name — “Red Houses.”

During the major renovation, specialists updated the facades, roofs (lathing and roofing), basements and entrances of the buildings, as well as a number of engineering systems. They replaced the main pipelines for cold and hot water supply, central heating and drainage, and also laid a new electrical network.

The facades of the houses were painted in a historical red-orange shade, and the stucco and other decorative elements — in “signal white.”

Building 2

The business card of the complex is Building 2, with a facade facing Stroiteley Street. It is an eight-story apartment residential building with through arched passages. Its facades have a complex plasticity. They are decorated with decorative shaped elements made of architectural concrete — cornices with modillions and stucco molding, accentuating the balconies.

Specialists developed a work execution project, selected modern domestic materials and technologies. They washed open facade planes, treated damp spots with antiseptic compounds, repaired brickwork and decorative elements.

In addition, the roof, the external drainage system were updated, and repairs were made to the water pipes, and an optimal temperature and humidity regime was installed in the attic.

Building 5

Updated is also building 5. The eight-story residential building has a complex shape and through arched passages. Three upper floors are separated from the lower part by a profiled decorative cornice adorned with bas-reliefs. The partitions of the upper floors are accented with stucco decoration. A crowning cornice is located around the perimeter of the house, emphasized by rows of brackets.

First, specialists thoroughly cleaned the exposed flat surfaces of the facades. This preparatory stage is very important: over years of operation, a large amount of dirt accumulates on the walls. Then all the joints, which over time tend to weather, were renewed. The places of dampening were treated with an antiseptic compound, the lost elements of the brickwork and architectural decor were restored.

In addition, the downspouts were replaced, the entrances and ventilation shafts were put in order, the attic room was insulated with mineral wool boards, and the basement was also cleaned and repaired.

In the capital, 10 buildings with pilasters on the facade have been thoroughly renovatedReady for new roles: in Moscow, a capital renovation of movie-hero houses has been completed

Building 6

Transformed as a result of the major renovation, the adjacent building 6. The eight-story residential building has a rectangular shape. The facades of complex plastic are decorated with decorative shaped elements made of aerated concrete — cornices and stucco, accentuating the balconies. The four lower floors are separated from the upper part by an elongated profiled cornice. The cornice, located around the entire perimeter between the fifth and sixth floors, is decorated with bas-reliefs. In addition, there is a crowning cornice, emphasized by rows of brackets.

First, specialists cleared and washed the exposed surfaces, then restored the seams and treated the soaking areas with antifungal compounds. Decorative elements were updated. In addition, the plumbing was put in order and the external drainage system was replaced, as well as an optimal temperature and humidity regime was established with the help of mineral wool boards.
