The SuperJob portal published ranking of the best Russian universities in terms of the salary level of graduates with a law degree who graduated from university in 2020-2025. Novosibirsk State University ranked 13th: the average salary of NSU graduates is 112 thousand rubles per month.
The leaders of the ranking are universities from Moscow and Saint Petersburg: MGIMO takes first place, MSU second, and the third place is shared by SPbU and HSE. Among Novosibirsk universities, NGUIE (18th place) is also represented in the top 20 ranking.
At NSU, training in the field of “Jurisprudence” is conducted at Faculty of Economics (FE) and in Institute of Philosophy and Law (IFP). Every year, NSU graduates more than 150 lawyers. In 2026, the law graduates numbered 158, including 102 bachelors, 49 masters, and 7 postgraduate students.

— At the same time, the place of the IFP Legal Clinic is also changing — it is now not only a spot for in-person consultations but also a growth point for contacts in cooperation with our alumni from previous years and employers to provide remote legal assistance to those in need, as well as a platform for consolidating the interests of applicants, students, graduates, and teachers. Ultimately, we teach students to work in the digital interface “lawyer — client,” along with skills in cyber hygiene and personal data protection. — says Vladimir Diev.
As a result, the graduates, masters, and postgraduates who have studied jurisprudence at the ISP NSU possess three key competencies: cognitive flexibility (the ability to quickly master new fields, from blockchain to neurobiology); ethical expertise (the ability to provide legal assessment of technologies not yet described in legislation); designer skills (the ability to create new legal regimes for innovations).
At the Economics Faculty of NSU, undergraduate training of future lawyers is conducted under the profile “Lawyer in the field of economic activity,” and in the master’s program, including the year 2025, under the profile “Legal Protection and Management of Intellectual Property and Innovations”. In addition to high-quality legal education, students of the Faculty of Economics receive training in economic disciplines based on knowledge of mathematical fundamentals and have the opportunity to attend elective courses taught by the faculty’s industry partners, including representatives from consulting businesses, the IT sector, and banking.
— Since the EF NSU is a conglomerate of five fields of study (economics, management, business informatics, sociology, law), career guidance under the aegis of the faculty’s student clubs (Case Club, Finance Club, Future Profession, SMBA) is conducted on a broad front and in active forms, for example, in the format of searching for comprehensive solutions (based on the combination of competencies of students from all EF study fields and other faculties/institutes of NSU) for real problem cases proposed by partner organizations. It is no coincidence that graduates-lawyers from the Faculty of Economics of NSU hold key positions in the field of intellectual property support in the region. A vivid example is the professional biography of Ekaterina Shekhtman, who after graduating from the Faculty of Economics of NSU in 2000 founded her own business and went from a novice to one of the leaders in business reputation in Novosibirsk in the field of legal support for intellectual property.
According to the results of the survey, which Career Development Center (CDC) of NSU conducted annually, master’s students in the field of “Jurisprudence” begin to work actively even during their studies. They get employed as judges’ assistants, interns in law firms, teachers, and employees of legal agencies. According to 2025 data, after graduating from NSU, the majority (52%) of those working in government bodies were graduates of the “Jurisprudence” program.
— The CRC annually organizes a separate career event for students studying law. Assistance in organizing such events is provided by the Student Initiatives Center — a student association established at the Institute of Philosophy and Law of NSU.
The level of NSU law students is also reflected in the awarding of named scholarships. Thus, in the 2025-2026 academic year, 4 out of 10 scholarships named after the Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation V. A. As Tatiana Bogomolova notes, currently employers who have also graduated from the EF NSU themselves prefer to form their teams from those who “have the same blood type” as they do, as they know the profile, level, and quality of training of lawyers at the EF NSU.
— Fortunately or unfortunately, besides salary, there is no other measure of a worker’s qualification and possession of market-demanded skills. And the position in the salary ranking of NSU law graduates, regardless of the faculty where they received their education, indicates that NSU is the right place to develop the human capital of those who want to earn money after obtaining a legal education, — concludes Tatiana Bogomolova.
Rating methodology
The ranking was prepared by the SuperJob research center based on the analysis of the incomes of graduates from Russian universities from the classes of 2020 to 2025. The study includes public universities, including classical and specialized universities.
The source of information used is the SuperJob resume database (50+ million resumes) and other open sources. The data collection period is 2 months prior to the date of the rating release.
The sample for each university participating in the ranking includes at least 70 resumes of graduates from relevant faculties of the specified graduation years, excluding resumes of interns, junior specialists, and applicants with less than 1 year of work experience in the specialty.
