By the end of the second quarter of 2026, the share of Russian developers applying or piloting Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies reached 49%. This is 2 percentage points higher than the previous quarter’s figure, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin reported.
“The national project ‘Infrastructure for Life’ sets ambitious goals for the construction industry to create comfortable living conditions for people and the comprehensive development of settlements. To achieve these goals, we cannot do without the digital transformation of the industry and the introduction of new technologies. We are systemically working in this direction. To date, almost half of developers use information modeling technologies. Such tools are used in 84 out of 89 regions of the country. This indicates that the construction community is mastering new technologies and implementing them in daily practice. Digital twins of buildings make it possible to shorten the investment and construction cycle, increase the transparency of work processes, and minimize errors at all stages of project implementation,” noted Marat Khusnullin.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that information modeling technologies are currently used in the construction of 46% of the total volume of housing being built in the country.
The highest level of BIM implementation remains in regions with high construction activity. The leader continues to be the Central Federal District, where such technologies are used in the construction of 81% of housing. High rates are also demonstrated by the Southern Federal District (73%) and the Ural Federal District (71%). At the same time, the active spread of digital technologies continues in other regions of the country.
“In recent years, information modeling technologies have evolved from a tool used by select market leaders to widespread use. We see steady growth both in the number of companies implementing BIM and in the regions where these technologies are applied in housing construction. Today, digital modeling is becoming an important part of developers’ production processes, allowing for improved quality of design decisions, reduced number of errors, and increased project implementation efficiency,” said Nikolay Kozak, Managing Director for IT and Digital Transformation at DOM.RF.
The use of BIM allows for the creation of digital models of future objects, integrating all project data throughout its lifecycle. The use of technologies helps reduce the number of design errors, increase transparency in the interaction of construction participants, and improve project implementation efficiency.
